Former Morehouse College basketball 1st team All-conference performer Doug Whittler will begin his second season as the Basketball Head Coach with the Maroon Tigers.

In just one seasons with his alma mater, Whittler has mixed strong culture principles with a passion for competing as his Maroon Tigers continued to showcase themselves in the SIAC, nationally and rewrite history along the way.

In his first season (2021-22), Whittler guided the Maroon Tigers to a 21-7 record and a 15-2 SIAC mark, helping the Maroon and White claim its 13th conference regular-season title. As a result, Morehouse earned its sixth No.1 seed in the SIAC tournament. The Maroon Tigers had a historical 18 game win streak tying the all-time win streak in school history. Whittler is the only Morehouse coach to win 21 games in his first season.

Along with first year success, Whittler guided newcomer Noah Morgan to not only a 1st team All-conference performer but to HBCU all-star accolades as well.

Prior to being named Head coach, Whittler spent 12 years under legendary Head coach Grady Brewer. During that time Whittler was very instrumental in assisting Coach Brewer run a successful program. His duties included recruiting, planning practices, strength and conditioning, skill development, monitoring student athletes academic success, scheduling study hall, as well as community outreach. Whittler help develop 8 all-conference players, 3 newcomer of the year performers, 2 SIAC player of the year, and 3 All-Americans during his tenure as an assistant coach.

Coach Whittler and his wife Kimberly has two sons, Sir, and Remy, and one daughter, Savannah.
